Hi Jeff,

Welcome to the list.  I have a EL-Nikkor 50/2.8 that I like well enough,
except it suffers from falloff above about f/8.  It was reasonably
priced though, I think that I paid $40 bucks for it from KEH in BGN
condition.  It was quite an improvement over the cheapie I was using at
the time.

If I was buying new and wished to spend the money, I think that I would
go for a Schneider or Rodenstock.  Be aware though, that both make cheap
3 & 4 element "price point" lenses (these end with "r" ; Rogonar,
Componar).  Them ones you want are the 6 element lenses,  Rodagons and
Componons.
