I've used those things in the past. My experience with them was that the 
pleats cracked fairly quickly, and that the plastic breathed enough that 
they didn't significantly increase the life of the developer.
I keep developer in glass bottles, and squirt a little dust off into the jug 
upon refilling it. The gas is oxygen free and heavier than air. This would 
keep all but the more volatile chemistry from oxidizing for quite a while, 
certainly longer than I was able to use it prior to exhaustion.
