Wow -I took an insider sign shot :) I don't think the chicken store lasted too much longer after I took this photo by the way.... The store next to it lasted longer... though it moved a few doors down I think. When I first lived one street over in 1959-60, The famous kosher dairy restaurants, Ratners and Rappaport's were still here as well as the famous Yiddish theatre, the Andersen on 2nd ave.... At the same time, there was a strong Italian population, too, with a great pork store (sorry, boris :) ) around the corner and a block down on 1st ave -- and a real spaghetti factory which was one of the first things to go to be replaced by an enormous and ugly brick building complex. ann > > >ann sanfedele wrote: > > >>Just printed this one up and sold to the guy who is opeing a coffee bar >>where the "open Thursday only" sign is. >> >>Pentax kx - can't remember lens I had then... >> >>Thinking now of doing a calendar of the east village in the 70's >> >>ann >> >> >> >> > > > > -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
