That's what I would think also.  Well put.

One should assume if it says DA on it, that it was designed for DSLR's as 
opposed to SLR's. The fact that one can mount a DA lens on an SLR is of 
little consequence.  Now if a FF K-mount body does come out, we'll all be 
very unhappy if we have an inventory of partial coverage DA lenses.

The fact that certain DA lenses will cover FF is simply a matter of physics 
and likely cost-savings on the design side.
