I think that this kind of estimation depends on several factors -- 1) the cost to set up the lab vs. the cost to set up a digital darkroom (for colour, digital is significantly cheaper, particularly for larger format work) 2) chemical cost: labs that are run daily for extended periods are much cheaper chemistry-wise than labs that are run a few times a week, because the chemistry will go bad if not used and replenished, whereas inkjet ink/dye/pigment costs stay theoretically consistent regardless of volume 3) paper: photographic paper is much cheaper per-sheet than good photographic-quality inkjet paper (retail -- Kodak 8x10 x100 sheets E surface Supra II costs $34.99 CDN, vs. Ilford quick-dry photographic satin 8x10 x100 for $79.99, or Tetenal Portrait Luster 8x10 x50 sheets for $99.99) -Aaron - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
