We don't have CompUSA up here, but we do have a couple of cheap
and dirty computer outfits that run nationwide big boxes. My
experience to date is that they sell nicely specified crap.
Sure, the machine I just bought used from a friend (a
Techtronics built for the Canucks in the crowd) has a PIII 667
chipset, so is fairly fast, but it came with a crapola video
card, a junk sound card and an ugly monitor. The system BIOS is
good, but the motherboard is garbage. I am hoping the case it
came in doesn't have a flakey power supply.
So far, I have replaced ~everything~ other than the box and
motherboard.
