Hi,
from a lover of mechanical cameras (my most-loved camera is
rolleiflex TLR straight from 1937...) and K2DMD and manual lenses,
who is a semi-pro (please no discussion on pro again <g>), and
feels the need for a digital camera... (something good enough to do
newspaper and magazine pictures, not fullpage of course, and maybe
10x15cm photographs on fuji frontier or noritsu digital chemical
minilabs, and not that expensive, I need for it to pay for itself
in about a year before it becomes too obsolete):
I have few questions to users of EI-2000. Thank you for answering
them. These are things that are in no sales brochure (and EI-2000
is hard to get hands on locally). Please respond to even just 1
question if you know it. Thanks a lot!
1) viewfinder. Any info in the finder? Like shutter speed+aperture,
in-focus, exposure meter,... just like we are used to in our SLRs.
2) manual mode - does it have metering in manual mode too?
3) zoom. It has "powerzoom". How fast and positive is it? I was put
off from many digicams including the very interesting Olympus
C2500L because of their slooooow zooming action, unusable for
reportage. The Pentax is interesting because it has zooming on lens
barrel, feature I miss in other digicams.
4) the lens is contained completely in the barrel? Or does it zoom
out or in physically outside the barrel? I am interested in putting
third-party adapters on the lens' 49mm thread (like the old 0.42x
fish-eye adapters and similar)
5) speed and size of buffer/cache - in single mode, how long is the
pause between you can shoot another frame (in highest resolution,
lowest compression but not tiff of course)
a) when cache is empty
b) when cache is full
- in continuous mode, how many pictures at that setting
(highest res, lowest jpg compress.) can you make in
succession, at what fps, before the cache is full, and when
it gets full, how long takes it to save them all to card and
before you can shoot more?
And finally, could somebody please send me to my email
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> some full-sized pictures made with this camera
(at full resolution, please send no tiffs, but zero-compression jpg
files)? I am intersted in some at 400 iso (to confirm the rumors
about high noise), with lots of shadow and highlight detail, and no
photoshop/twain adjusting please. Thanks! (btw, confirm first
sending by mailing me off-list. I don't want to get files from 5
members at one time <g>).
BTW, was the 3MP EI-3000 ever released? This ZLR (EI-xxxx) seems
much better body than the stupid optio compact, why don't the put
some better cache and ccd in the old EI-2000 body??? It's much
better than those shitty pseudo-slr cameras (those using LCD
display inside the viewfinder. They just SUCK BIG TIME! I used
them, phew. Shit)
