Bill:

This is not necessarily intended to defend UPS, but....

I noticed that there was little or no packing material or support ,
styrofoam, original packing materials, etc, in the box or around the box?
True/False?

Additionally, was there insurance on it? and if so, adequate?

This package was obviously mishandled. You should vehemently pursue a claim
for damage. Be belligerent, that's the only language they understand. If
necessary, for the $$$ amount, have an attorney friend send them a letter!
If you need some assistance, I can offer some help, possibly through the
local branch here in Wisconsin. (Have some inside connections that can assist
you.)

And you're right, FRAGILE, is a foreign word for "try and crush me" if you
work in the shipping business. They do not read the labels, nor can some of
them even read...they're either half asleep when working or can't read
English. That's from experience, after having worked there for two summers
during college days and now having a daughter who is a "packing/loading
supervisor.

Just some thoughts, if I can be of assistance, let me know.

Sincerely and my sympathies for your loss,

Paul Gutkowski, Milwaukee
