Hey everyone, I just received my new MZ-S with battery grip this week... although I haven't had a chance to try it out yet because I've been bogged down at work. But so far, this camera feels good in my hands. I was hoping that my girlfriend would talk some sense in to me and talk me out of buying this since I already had a pz-1p... but, to the contrary, she was for it. I've noticed that it's a pretty practical camera and easy to manipulate and control. I love the vertical grip, although I'm so used to using the single shutter release button when taking vertical shots.... but that will just take some time. The main reason I bought the grip was for the additional battery life and ease of replacing AA batteries when stranded in the middle of no where.
One thing I did notice is that I can't have my AF500FTZ flash mounted and use the built in flash at the same time. The external flash unit's mount gets in the way of the pop up flash, unlike the pz-1p. I guess I'll have to be a little more creative when trying to use the AF500FTZ as a bounce flash and the pop up as a filler. Anyways, if tomorrow evening is nice and warm, I'm hoping to drop into the city (Chicago) late at night to get some night shots with my trusty old tripod and some provia 100 that's been sitting in my fridge for a couple of months. Has anyone had any bad/good experiences with this newly released body? So far I've read about the lens mount index lamp problem that some people mentioned, but haven't seen it happen on mine yet. Just curious.... Gabe - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. To unsubscribe, go to http://www.pdml.net and follow the directions.
