This will take a bit of explanation.

That is a 3" R.5 Sandvik/Coromont carbide inserted surface milling cutter. I
work in a heavy industrial machine shop, and often times the run times on parts
are very long, that night I drug the camera along with me to work. Now on the
machine I was running that night, it has a problem that the screw that draws
the tapered shank tooling into the spindle (50mm taper for those intrested) is
short on torque to unscrew itself if the tool should warm up too much while in
the spindle. The whole thing becomes pretty hot at anything above about
1200rpm. So on winter days (we have no heat in the shop), we run this big
halogen infared heat lamp over a shelf lined with aluminum plate (without the
aluminum plate the wood would start to smolder sometimes) to warm the tools up
before placing them in the spindle. The tool was sitting on the shelf as it is
in the photo, The heat lamp also puts out a large amount of visible light, and
is really the only bright light in the entire shop. The shelf sits well over
head, so I took the shot from eye level standing on the ground. The focus
isn't as good as I would like. The back ground is the aluminum plate out of
focus.

Yea, I dunno, the manual on the thing is really bad. I'll just put it away for
a backup incase the 283 desides to stop working.

Right, well, the problem with that is, the thing is so bright at close range, I
run out of stops on the lens above ISO400. :) Thats IF i go by the distance
guide on the side of the flash. Anyone know what to expect if i just choose
the apeture first, then choose an apropriate filter setting on the flash?
