Dave,

I don't think it works out that way! The showers will be better in some
places around the world, but everywhere around the world they'll be most
visible just before dawn - whether in North America, Australia, or even lil'
old New Zealand!

The particles that cause the showers exist in a broad band which earth
will be passing through. If you imagine a baseball being thrown through a
swarm of flies, it's obvious that the leading face of the ball will be most
covered in squashed flies, and it's the same with these particles. The
leading face of the earth is the part which is just heading into dawn.
Since the earth is spinning, all parts of the planet will have a chance to
be the leading face at some point of the day. So if the baseball was
spinning as it went through the swarm of flies, then the entire ball would
be totally covered in squashed dead bugs!

Hope this makes things clear !8^)

Richard.

Looks like I'll miss it here. I'm 2 hours ahead of Sydney which puts the
shower at 6am; after sunrise. Bugger.

Cheers,

Dave
