my partner bought a brand new el-cheapo Dell for about $350, max'ed out the RAM for another $120. He got it so that he can learn Vista for his consulting ... it would run XP a lot better. came with all the modern bells and whistles (802.11 wireless, etc). at that kind of price, I wouldn't put money into a used laptop.
