I'm 100% left-eyed (in fact that's why I had power winders on all my film cameras). You soon get used to turning the camera the "other" way so you can use the vertical release buttons.
Although I've taken the grip off my *ist D to give me a lighter walk-around camera (with the kit 18-55), the grip stays on the K10D all the time. I wouldn't want to go back to hand-holding the 80-200/2.8 without the grip mounted.
