Other merchants locally can change the oil for about $50 ... I don't have waste disposal facilities and the desire to lay in the gutter to change the oil (automotive work in the parking garage is prohibited). I haven't found any other merchants around here with the diagnostic equipment to test the car's electrical and other systems, nor the expertise to do the inspection and electrical maintenance. I could get someone to look at the brakes and do the tire rotation, if I wanted to spend yet more time ... For $90 every 5,000 miles, the local dealer does a good job and very quickly ... it's one of the reasons I bought the car ... and they're a 5 minute walk from my door too. I usually charge $70 to $150 per hour for my work: is it worth spending one or two hours of my time to do a half-assed job when a better job can be done for $90 in an hour and a half?
