Marnie, This is not "jam packed"... jam packed is when jam starts licking from the jars in somebody's bag :-)
You haven't seen how really "jam-packed" looks, e.g. in subway in Moscow or Buenos Aires during rush hour. Sometimes you can literally lift your feet and you wouldn't fall.
