There may have been more K and M gems than A gems (I don't know), but 
"backwards compatibility" includes the F and FA lenses as well. There 
are far more gems, both in terms of models and units sold, in the post-A 
era, (A, F and FA lenses) which has been going 26 years and counting, as 
compared with the short 7-year span of the K/M lenses.
