Well, if you had an Apple system John, I'd recommend Apple's .Mac service for casual use. $8/month (pre-paid yearly), web host, email, network storage (10G standard, more available for additional cost). It's been very effective.
My business site, www.gdgphoto.com, is hosted by GoDaddy.com. Cost was $260 or so complete (two domain names, web service, POP email, etc with 5Gbytes online storage space) prepaid for 5 years ($4.33/ month). I've had zero problems with them so far, the site's been open since early 2006. This is the economy service ... you can option a service up to your needs.
