I agree with that except while the Tamron has tested sharper than the older
Sigma 14/3.5 it is less sharp than the latest Sigma 14/2.8 EX.

They are quite similar, but the Tamron has the benefit of an
extremely low distortion (around 1%) while the Sigma is not so
well corrected in this regard (slightly less than 5%) and is a
bit less sharp too.
I have the test of both lenses in past issues of "Tutti
Fotografi", a magazine I trust a lot.
I cannot testify about their build quality, though.

I can scan and send you the MTF charts if you wish.
