Hi all. Back from another 7 day adventure to Fargo with those wind towers. Again another trip that should have been 4 days. To quote John Beluchi<sp> "But Nooooooooo".
Another late start in Fort Erie, and another midnight run from Hurley Wis to Fargo. I hate that day.:-0 This should work out well. Breakfast, then a drive to Madison, then home on Sat and make my horse show on Sunday. Perfect. Well....... Last trip my truck broke down twice and i managed to get it going to keep the loads on track, and twice i ran into very nice and friendly service people in Escanaba Mich and Hurley Wis, that fixed me up. Dropped the towers off Friday at 9am and five of us headed to a Petro station on I94 for breakfast. As i was leading, i turned off at the exit and went over the freeway, and saw the two left turn lanes. I was still doing a proper speed, but not fast for the intersection. I saw an 18 wheeler infront take the outside left lane to turn and i WAS going to stay behind, but decided, at the last moment, to get into the left-left lane, to make my turn to the station. Good thing as at the time i hit the brakes, one line let go, shot fluid all over the engine and i slide through the intersection. Had i not changed lanes when i did, i would have slammed into the back of said big truck. Instead, i slowly came to a stop about 1/4 way into the intersection. One guy made a smart comment on the CB. When i mentioned i have no brakes, silence. Well instead of a drive to Madison, i spent the rest of the day at Gateway GM in Fargo for repairs. I must say, so far everyone i have met in my break downs have done a great job in helping us out asap and friendly. Over night in Fargo, drive Sat to New Buffalo Mich and home around 2:30 pm today. Missed my show, and this is not what i wanted as i am getting new work from this famr and they have a lot. Boss knows i'm pissed and he'll most likely get his keys back Monday. Maybe Monday i'll quit, but i'm told they won't let me.:-( This was and is my big worry of this job. Things like weather and break downs i have no control over.
