I worked there for 100 years one year. It's hot and humid, in a way that few places I've ever been have been, it's poor, (though West Memphis makes it look rich), it's Bridgeport Connecticut with an Entertainment District. Walking through the warehouse district from my corporate condo on the riverfront to downtown was a trip of three or four blocks. It was like walking through the ruins of a city that had lost a war, and never been rebuilt. A coworker commented that normally he would have been uncomfortable walking in a neighborhood that looked that bad, but who in their right mind would be lurking there to mug someone.
