It's a new body and new lens. Update of the previous Mamiya 645AFDII, but a fairly extensive going over. Updated AF, completely new UI. And this is just an interim body, they'll be launching the real 3rd generation 645AF next year.
Sales are apparently pretty strong for the Mamiya kit, what this is is fallout from Hassy/Imacon taking the datalink off the H2 so you can't build a dedicated back for it, and the H3D being completely proprietary. Leaf and Sinar teamed up with Rollei on the Hy6 project while PhaseOne hooked up with Mamiya on the body side of things. Looks like PhaseOne/Mamiya are out ahead of the game as Hy6 is having serious teething troubles while Mamiya's had a decade to get the 645AF working smoothly. -Adam On 3/20/08, P. J.
