Leasing is not "an investment in a vehicle". It's a way of obtaining a vehicle for a period to use without the necessity of ownership and the commitment of capital, or the liabilities of long term maintenance and upkeep that ownership implies. Whether it's the right transportation solution for a particular person's needs can't really be answered with a blanket generalization, but by and large it is usually more costly than long term ownership. That cost premium might be ameliorated by the fact that you are not putting out a lot of your capital to own, yet you get the use of a near-new vehicle all the time.
I'm not arguing either for or against leasing. I've never leased a car. Godfrey On Mar 26, 2008, at 9:48 AM, Ken Waller wrote: >> I guess that's the part of the thing I don't get.
