L Ron Hubbard was at his best an average SF writer, at worst he was just
a hack. His ideas didn't stand up to the logic that makes a good story
cause you to suspend your disbelief, His characters are one dimensional
their dialog wooden. His heros are motivated by simple operant
responses and his villains are cut from the same cloth as Snidely
Whiplash and should come equipped with a handle bar mustache to twirl.
How he was able to create a convincing religion to bilk widows and
orphans out of heir inheritances is beyond me.
