I could try it in January during Pentax Dubai Desert Adventure. They said, the new version was designed to meet more precise sensors like 10.2 and 14.6MPix ones instead of old 6MPix ones. As you may know, older one is rather feeble with K10D (i.e the lens resolution was lower than sensor resolution), but works really fine with K100D. We used K20D cameras with 18-55 II lenses for two days and the results are ok. Not as good as with DA*'s I had with me, but ok. Compared to older DA18-55 the resolution is clearly higher and it's geometry is also a bit better.
