For affordable wide zooms, the 16-45/4 and Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4.5 are
excellent options for much less than the 16-50DA*. Pentax offers more
than just the 16-50 and 18-55. I've owned both of those (16-45 when I
had my K100D, 17-70 with the K10D) and liked both a lot. The 17-70
also makes a nice 17mm f2.8 prime if you use the zoom lock (which is
how I normally used it).
