My understanding is that the Sigma EF530 series is basically the same as the EF500 series, with updated firmware for P-TTL.
I've been using the EF500 DG Super for about a year. It always works, but as Paul says its exposure is inconsistent, whether on-camera or via wireless control. I too am curious about the Metz.
