I should have started out by saying you'll either love or hate Animoto. I'm having a lot of fun with it.
This is definitely not about fine photography. It's about using your pictures to generate something for fun. Eye-candy to satisfy the short-attention-span set. My 80 year old mother would hate it. She wants to stare at every photo for a long time. My 24 year old daughter thinks it's the newest hotness. She grew up on fast paced stuff like this. I created another short video from about 75 images taken at neighborhood holiday get-togethers and other parties over the last several years. The video is just under two minutes. They loved it. It generated lots of conversation about "old times" and how everyone's looks and hair styles had changed. A similar video from about 50 shots taken at work during a new employee reception has also been very popular. (These are not publicly posted to respect the privacy of the folks in the photos.) These videos are more on the animated scrap book, music video end of the scale and are about as far from fine art as you can get.
