Anything good will be $300 to $500 if it's a sleeper, or very old, a lot more if it's well regarded, unless you get very lucky. That's used by the way, you won't find anything really sharp at the long end new in that price range. If you're shooting digital and can live with the green button solution, keep your eyes peeled at KEH for a smcp-m* 300mm in bargain condition, you may find one for less than $300. Right now KEH has an Ex+ SMC-P 300. I have no experience with them but they're supposed to be very good, sharper with better contrast than the A*/M* 300mms, also compared to those later Pentax lenses big and heavy,
