It just sits there like a lump (albeit a nicely sculpted one) on the cabinet beside my printer. Sometimes it makes makes noises like a little coffee percolator. Otherwise, it is a most unnassuming little thing.
One thing odd though. Now when I start my computer it hangs up on the boot cycle, sitting there with the mother board splash screen, and a few messages at the bottom such as push this button to enter set-up or that button to read the POST message (whatever that is). If I hit the hot restart button, then it boots up normally, though the entire boot cycle takes longer. Windows especially takes longer to complete it's start up, with the welcome screen sitting for several seconds longer than I am used to. I did try booting with the Drobo's USB cable detached, and the machine booted normally, so whatever is happenning, it is being caused by the Drobo. At some point I'll get in touch with Data Robotics and ask them if they know what is causing it.
