When using dedicated flash units with various camera systems, I've
always found that on-camera controls and on-flash controls both
functioned. And that the EV compensation of one was not necessarily a
direct equivalent of the EV compensation provided by the other.

Reading the manual for both camera and flash might help, but in
general I've found the best thing to do is perform a bit of testing to
understand the particular controls' behavior. I don't have any Pentax
dedicated flash units but I've done this with others. The results are
often surprising, and useful.
