Hi all Many thanks for the comments. Some responses......

Didn't have much choice :-)> The gulls were not going to miss out - they are superb scavengers (and that's not necessarily a good thing....) I never really thought about their size. They are Silver Gulls (Larus novaehollandiae) and they can be found just about everywhere in Australia, even hundreds of km from the ocean. They're moderately sized birds - wouldn't call them small but there are certainly larger gulls (the Pacific Gull is about twice the size). As I mentioned to Jack, they are wonderful scavangers and unafraid of humans. If you're having a fish and chip lunch on the beach, you need to pay attention to your food or the gulls will help themselves! They also have an interesting habit of gathering on cricket fields in the afternoon, particularly in Adelaide. More than one gull has had to be assisted from the field after being clobbered by a particularly hard hit cover drive (sorry, I know that's gibberish to those not familiar with the game....) Here's a closer view of one.... http://tinyurl.com/55tr37 http://picasaweb.google.com/supera1000/SilverGull/photo?authkey=hkVEwaWEIAQ#5215329139771530946 Dave: > I like the lines & colour very much. > > This line from Finding Nemo poped into my head as soon as I saw it: > > <http://www.moviesoundclips.net/movies1/findingnemo/mine.mp3> Yeah, that fits! Although it probably fits this one better.... http://www.blognow.com.au/PESO/92227/Feeding_Frenzy.html Thanks for posting that. Ken: > Great Catch ! Love the composition. Gotta love that cloud! > > The only nit I have is the harsh light, but you take what you get. Yes - mid afternoon in mid summer in Australia. It doesn't get much harsher! And thanks also to Christine, Bruce, Frank and 'gldnbearz' Cheers Brian ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Brian Walters Western Sydney Australia http://members.westnet.com.au/brianwal/SL/ > On 6/23/08, Brian Walters <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Hi all > > > > These pelicans and gulls get a free feed of fish scraps every day from a > > seafood restaurant on the waterfront.
