Brands can be built, that _is_ marketing. Sony is aggresively pursueing the amateur market with well-specced camera's for very attractive prices. As far as I can see they're quite succesfull. I don't see why they couldn't do the same for the pro market. According to a sony executive they started a photography contest (can't remember which) to start building on their image with pro photographers. It'll take them years, but Sony probably knows that better than any of us, and obviously still are willing to go that way.
