Hi! First of, congratulations! You accomplished a whole lot during last several months ;-).
Now to your lens question. It is 28-70 btw, *not* 28-80. I used it somewhat when visiting Jostein. And I also have Tamron 28-75/2.8. I think (based on my taste and experience) that Tamron is more hmmm common. Pentax has this typical Pentax look and feel in the pictures, while Tamron is more generic. Having said that, it is amazing optic. My copy of the lens is sharp wide open. It also rotates the right way. I mean all the rings and stuff. The original lens costs now probably well in excess of $1,000, used. But Tamron, being at least 3 times cheaper is probably on par IQ-wise. Pentax, though, is better build, but again, not that much better so as to warrant such a huge price difference. So that having got a good sample of Tamron 28-75/2.8 I don't look back at other lenses in the same category. Cheers!
