Christine, If you use Windows and have Zonealarm firewall you could have fallen foul of an incompatibility between ZA and a recent Windows update (KB951748). Apparently the update made changes that ZA interpreted as malicious, prompting it to block internet access to many key Windows components and effectively taking the user offline. It's now been corrected by a ZA update, but the provisional fix to get back online, if this is the problem, is to either uninstall the KB951748 update, or to lower the firewall security sliders to "medium" until ZA has been updated.
