Hi Bob, I purposely made sure that the flash did not fire. You are right that this type of point & shoot camera may not be able to do what I wanted to achieve. I'm caught between knowing that my istDS would not have had this kind of issue and at the same time not being able to socialize, or worse, have someone "hide" from an SLR camera. OTOH, this P&S is extremely portable to the extent that I can pass it around the table or stash it in my pocket/purse.
