I considered the option, Axel. It also feels natural because you get a
kind of symmetry around the base of the photo with the channel
seemingly symmetric in the pic. As it is now, the perspective endpoint
for the channel seems to hit a sweet point in the composition, and I
thought that to be more important than mathematical symmetry at the
baseline. Especially since there are so many lines to play on.
Further, I think the willow on the LH side will become too dominating
if you crop too much on the RH side. Notice also that the viewpoint is
not exactly above the middle of the channel. So trying to align
symmetry based on where the channel edges enter the pic, you end up
with a skewed composition nonetheless.
