Hi Jens, You don't need to stick to
1 - Uncheck the checkbox in "File No." in "Memory" submenu of "Capture" menu. 2 - Format a card (so that there are no pictures in it for sure) 3 - Take a shot (that will be numbered IMGP0001, or something like thet) 4 - Check the checkbox in "File No." in "Memory" submenu of "Capture" menu. You've then reset file numbering to 001. In step 2 above, should you then put any picture file into the card (e.g. IMGP4046.PEF), the next picture will get the next number (e.g. IMGP4047.PEF). So, put a picture file with a number of your choice for resetting the camera to any number you feel comfortable with (eg. the actual number of pictures you've shot with the K20D). BTW, that's what you already did unintentionally when leaving the K10D pictures in the card and you can do it again for fixing the file numbering.
