Bob, AFAIK google maps doesn't support garmin gpx files/tracks. one can
feed the tracks to this online utility (gpsvisualizer.com) which in
turn will project them onto google maps which i saved as a static map...

the site also can convert gpx files into google earth kmz/kml format...

the site also limits the size of the tracks to 3 mb so i have to break
up the ride track into four or more sub-tracks...

if you want i can send you the individual tracks off-list so that you
can use it to view the tracks/terrain live on gpsvisualizer.com..

regards, subash
