(1) LOL , Mike...  
(2) Although when I was "young and easy under the apple boughs" - that 
is, in the late 60's, my then lover and I
and other friends of ours enjoyed the Lord of the Rings trilogy,  odd, 
since we were pretty much all pacifist-athiestic-lefties.
But we poked fun at it,too.  that being said, I found the film to be 
unwatchable... tried a couple of times when it was on TV...
In fact, I find most high-techy fantasy type films unwatchable, so I 
align with Bob W there... too much noise, too much
visual puff.  I can't abide Cirque de Soleil , either.  

Brian - why did you stay for 3 hours???
