It points to a basic fact of photographic business: selling prints is not the way to make a living at it unless you are selling a LOT of them, or selling fine art prints through a gallery ... and even then you have to have the right connections and the right gallery to promote your work. Selling rights to the use of images in publication is the more lucrative end of the business for me. I've made much more money from selling one photograph for a book cover than I've made in three years of selling dozens of prints at the galleries.
