I have a photo.net account but have never liked their picture display layout. Mostly I use the webservers included with the me.com package for casual picture display ... i either post single photos or small galleries in HTML ... or I use flickr.com because of the community of users to discuss with. I also maintain my own website and write my own HTML for it.
Smugmug and zenfolio both do a good job from what I've seen, but again I prefer the ability to manage my own display preferences.
