What's always the problem is Pentax assuming that because all the money is made on low end cameras, all you need to build are low end cameras: You need a high end camera to impress newbies into buying your low end cameras. The 1Ds mkIII is almost as much a marketing tool for the Rebels as it is a photographic instrument. In all seriousness, I think Pentax has learned this lesson, but it took them a while.
