Thanks for the suggestions. I took the E-1 into Greenwich to get some
shots with the CZ 100/2.8 makro. I'm pleasantly surprised by the
quality of the results, with no purple fringing at all. It is,
however, quite large and heavy, and difficult to focus manually on the
E-1.

So I went into town to a shop where I know they have a used
50-200/2.8-3.5 available. Unfortunately (or not, as the case may be)
the shop was closed today. But I bought a new ED 40-150/4.0-5.6, which
is a tiny little thing, weighs nothing and is not terribly expensive.
It's in the consumer lens range, but I'm extremely impressed by the
quality of the results. I took it for a walk around the West End.
Here's a gallery with some shots with each lens. At this resolution
it's probably not possible to tell the difference. The 1st page is
with the Zeiss, except for the last on the page. The remainder are
with the Olympus.
