Yes! I'd say in a correct design, you'd use menus only to set up the camera. During actual shooting, everything you need to do should be doable without taking the camera from your eye. Any Pentax digital do that? Or come close? I'd happily give up features to get that. JPEG, white balance, ... Also, I'd be happy with only one meter mode, center weighted.
