Sad.
Inevitable, I suppose, but still sad.
cheers,
frank, who hasn't had a roll of TriX developed in over a year
I always preferred Ilford HP-5 but I'll miss Tri-X when it goes.
I won't miss Kodachrome.
Tri-X isn't going anywhere. Not for a long while. Take a look at this:
http://www.freestylephoto.biz/sc_prod.php?cat_id=&pid=1000003156 Made
in the US and the dev times are remarkably identical to those published
by Kodak for Tri-X. While Freestyle and Kodak won't say who's making
what for whom, it's pretty damn obvious that this is Tri-X.
Kodachrome, I believe, is on it's way out. We discussed this last year,
I think, and we all agreed that the CEO who decides to kill Kodachrome
is going to be tarred and feathered. But last April the price on
Kodachrome went up about 25%. Those assholes are pricing themselves out
of the market and pointing the finger of blame at their customers for
abandoning the product. Pretty smart. For a bunch of assholes.
