If you're using iDVD, you are making a standard DVD playable on a DVD
player ... should be playable by anything, should be playable on any
computer that can show DVD movies. iDVD permits a fair range of
templates, formatting options, transitions, etc to be assembled into a
show using music from iTunes or Garage Band and still images from
iPhoto.
If you want to use a computer to play a slideshow, first figure out
what computer is going to be playing it and target the slideshow to be
usable by whatever application software that computer is going to use
to run it. There are so many ways of doing this it's hard to give a
single way to go.
I usually use Apple's Keynote application to assemble and play
slideshows from the computer, either interactively or via auto-run.
iPhoto's slide shows are a bit simpler to produce and run. Either can
be output to a QuickTime movie file and played via the QuickTime
Player in various ways on either Mac OS X or Windows.
The truly important thing to do is to get some information up
front ... before you build the presentation! ... about what they have
to play the presentation. And them make a test product and be sure it
actually plays on their equipment.

If i were to do a slideshow for a banquet, using iphoto and iDVD,
what's the best way to do this. Just give them the DVD and let the
hall run it from there iphoto, if they have it.
Or, do you run the slideshow on the mac here, and save it as a
slideshow.??.If so, does that play on any computer or just macs.
The horse awards banquet has equiopment to run slide shows around the
room, i just dont know what system. Right now its saved for PC.
