My dear departed mother, not a photographer, returned from England in the late 50's with Coleman's little brown mustard pots for all, as found on (she said) every restaurant table. To her, that was England.

A lifetime smoker, her ashtray had a drawing of a seated frazzled woman hunched over and captioned "People are no damn good."

To her, that was very funny, not a philosophy.
