"From a distance", it looked like the stickers we used to hand out to all the bosses who would attend a family day or employer appreciation event at drill.

Especially in the last few years, there's been a big push to get employers actively supporting their employees who are members of the National Guard or Reserve. Because without employer support, our citizen soldiers can't afford to serve.

There's a lot of guys & gals out there worrying about what they're going to come home to in the way of employment right now. I know what they're going through, because my employer eliminated the whole division I had worked for while I was on active duty.

The law says the company has to hold your job; you get to return to your job when you get back, with the same seniority as if you never left, but if the company goes out of business, or eliminates ALL the jobs ...

And sometimes, when it's a small business, just one or two employees called up are enough to tip it into bankruptcy. Saw that happen to some of our guys.
