Dear Stefan:
Wow, those are really nice! Your portfolio reveals a strong eye for
composition, interesting subjects, and a general understanding of the
conventions of the photographic generes. This is most impressive. I love
the stairs with the feet. To my eye, you caught the zig-zag of the lines
just right, though I might like to see a little more leg attached to the
feet, not a lot, but just a tad more. The silhouette is very nice. I can
definitely get a mood-story out of that one. Your people shots are lots of
fun; I like them very much; People shots are my favorite. You finish off
your gallery with a real stunner: that fog shot is a beauty. Only once did
I have the opportunity to photograph fog--your shot is a lot better than
mine! Keep shooting! And good luck! This gallery should make you a strong
candidate for the job!
Cheers, Christine
Dear Cotty:
Aren't these Digital Natives amazing?! They've been born into the digital
era, have grown up with it, and they are on their way to mastering it. They
are visually literate; they experiment fearlessly. Should be exciting to
see where the young ones take the genre!
I didn't mention this before, but my day yesterday started with taking Akira
to his tennis lesson. After tennis, I let him render the pictures I took at
the tennis lesson in Lightroom. To watch him do this was AMAZING. He was
so systematic. He tweaked to his taste, thoughtfully moving sliders about
and did all of this in such a relaxed manner. He gave the shots a strong
cartoon effect, tweaking vibrancy & saturation etc, and explained to me that
was, exactly, his intention. I just stayed out of the way, and when he was
done, we printed them out. It was such a fun day!
Cheers, Christine
