Dave, To tell you the truth, I haven't used this lens much lately. I am just getting back to using the camera for more than holiday pictures. I use mainly the 28-80 and the 70-200. The 100-300 stays in the bag most of the time.
What I can tell you is that the longer lens is heavier, but is very much the same quality as the other Pentax SMC lenses I already use.
